I believe that any boudoir photoshoot is all about learning to see the beauty in yourself. EVERY woman is beautiful, every woman has her own unique beauty. We each have our own. I hate how some feel we need to put down another woman to find something better in ourselves, or worse, to put ourselves down thinking we need to be like someone else. Beauty and body shaming is a horrid thing.I like to encourage and direct my photosessions to have my clients forget about other women and their insecurities for at least the time they are in my studio. To spend the time dropping comparisons, to forget about anyone else, and just celebrate what THEY are, what they have and how AMAZING they are.
And brides? Believe me, there are a million brides out there that are absolutely terrified and worn out from insecurities. A wedding can be even more scary when you are having trouble finding a dress in a size that fits, are shy, or feel uncomfortable standing up in front of a crowd. A women who hasn’t thought of herself as having beauty in a long time can feel pretty knocked down when this is supposed to be a time of joy, and that is not a good way to lead up to your wedding.
If you are the woman who has NEVER considered doing a boudoir photoshoot think of this as instead a gift to you. Weddings are such a crazy time, and like it or not, can be full of stress and bring out insecurities. Stressed and overworked brides instead experience a morning of pampering with the focus on THEM. No table seating plans, no family drama, this day is just about the bride. Kicking self-esteem up a notch and experiencing value of yourself, playing dress-up and seeing yourself dolled up, that can bring confidence. A reminder of that can help bring on and prepare you for that super wedding day of your dreams. You can walk down that isle knowing that you are a bridal beauty, you are that gorgeous woman that your spouse sees. That everyone sees, except sometimes yourself.
I stand by my work, and say that I encourage all women to think about doing boudoir. What are you afraid of? Talk to me, and we will avoid focusing on the things you are scared of seeing on camera. Any woman, any size, any age. So what if you are not a mainstream blond, blue eyed long haired size whatever. I photograph REAL women. Every woman is a REAL woman. Skinny, curvy, whatever size, however old. Give me a chance to show off my talents in taking flattering portraits, that just might surprise you about yourself. In the long run, I cannot fix self esteem. I cannot fix and eating disorder. I don’t encourage major photoshop. I DO offer it for retouching though, because no one wants to remember that stress breakout or skinned knee during a beauty photosession. But when your reality and self perception is skewed, seeing someone intentionally capture gorgeous images of yourself, and seeing the beautiful parts of you celebrated in beautiful artwork – that can be a a real kick in the pants and change your view of yourself you need to enjoy your wedding as the center of attention and the woman of your spouses dreams.
With that long rant, I leave you with the hot images of Ms. M. Just another gorgeous everyday woman. 🙂
